Nestled in Victoria’s alpine country near Dinner Plain and Anglers Rest, Shannonvale is a place of rugged beauty — where high-altitude tracks wind through native grasses and untamed bushland, and the landscape reveals its wild character at every turn.

For 30 years, this remote alpine landscape was home to my aunt. Against the cool, demanding climate, she cultivated a garden filled with native plants and flowers — many of which seemed unlikely to flourish in such an unforgiving environment. Through her patience, dedication and deep connection to the land, she transformed it into something extraordinary.

This painting is an homage to her enduring love of Mother Nature. It celebrates the quiet resilience of the natural world and the beauty that can emerge even in the harshest conditions.

Shannonvale is a reflection on wildness, perseverance and the profound beauty found where nature remains untamed.
